23rd annual Benchmark Unveiling

One of our favorite events of the year—the unveiling of 20 custom art benches commissioned by local businesses, organizations, and individuals. The benches are arranged in a large circle, each covered with a white sheet. The large crowd of clients, family and community gather around the perimeter of the room. One by one–preceded by a drum roll– the young artists unfurl the sheet covering their bench to the (surprise/pleasure/applause of their client and.  This event is free and open to the public—an event not to miss!

Spring Project Unveiling

Each spring we complete a large-scale mural project with surfaces as varied as an underground walkway to a city bus. 2019 brought a new challenge which we gladly accepted, a truly special partnership with Lawrence Memorial Hospital.  The Integrated Crisis Team at LMH Health commissioned Van Go to create three murals for patient rooms in the Mental Health Unit of the Emergency Department.  Apprentice-Artists learned about the emotional impact of color from a professional color specialist and interior designer to create work that is calming and beautiful. Van Go deeply values the availability of mental health services in the Lawrence community and is pleased to be hired for a project that aligns so closely with its mission to holistically improve the lives of high needs youth.

2020 Mural will be a collaboration between Bon Bon! and Just Food
